Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, reiterated this Friday, in the City of Praia, \u201czero tolerance” against cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).<\/p>\n

The request was made in a statement to journalists before presiding over the central event of the celebration of International Women’s Day, marked today, under the global motto “Investing in Women, Accelerating progress”.<\/p>\n

“We still have this great fight to win, which is Gender-Based Violence (GBV), which is imposed with great acuity\u201d, pointed out Ulisses Correia e Silva, calling for joint work, since, as he noted, only coercive action is not enough, ” because prevention is needed.<\/p>\n

“Because with prevention we will have fewer cases and fewer victims. This is the message that we will have to reinforce because with each passing year we have to intensify in a clear and collective sense of zero tolerance to GBV”, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

For the head of the Government there are still major battles to be won, remembering that there are still many women in poverty and with problems of parental responsibility, “who still take full care of their children”<\/p>\n

On the other hand, she praised the fact that there are empowered women in science, education, academia, culture, sport, entrepreneurship and business activity.<\/p>\n

“This means, he pointed out, motivation for the Government to do “more and better” in public policies and in all activities relating to society as a whole, namely families and non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n

The event was organized by the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) in collaboration with the United Nations.<\/p>\n
