Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Movement for Democracy (MpD) met on Saturday, in the city of Porto Novo, in Santo Anta\u0303o, its National Directorate, which focused on the preparation of the 2024 local elections and the national political situation.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the MpD National Directorate, Alberto Nunes, told the press that \u201cfor the first time\u201d the party is preparing these elections \u201cwell in advance\u201d, with the purpose of \u201cmaintaining the 14 chambers won in 2020 and winning new chambers in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe history of local governance shows that the MpD has been the largest municipal party in Cape Verde and has managed to respond to the wishes of Cape Verdeans. It is enough to see that the municipalities governed by the mayors of this party present better results\u201d, said Alberto Nunes.<\/p>\n

For the spokesperson for the MpD National Directorate, this party is \u201cengaged to maintain the cameras\u201d it has at this time and \u201cconquer more cameras\u201d in the next municipalities, which should take place in the last quarter of this year.<\/p>\n

A vast MpD delegation, headed by its president, Ulisses Correia e Silva, and made up of national and regional leaders traveled on Friday, 15th, to Santo Anta\u0303o for the central event of the celebrations of the party’s 34th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The MpD parliamentary group also spent the last three days on decentralized journeys on the island of Santo Anta\u0303o.<\/p>\n
