Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verde’s parliament today unanimously approved the first amendment to the new nationality law, whose proposal had been removed from the agenda in the previous session.<\/p>\n

The document presented by the Government was generally approved unanimously by the 63 deputies present in the session room \u2013 Cape Verde’s parliament is made up of 72 deputies.<\/p>\n

34 deputies from the Movement for Democracy (MpD, in power), 25 from the Cape Verde African Independence Party (PAICV, opposition) and four from the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID, opposition) voted in favor of the amendment.<\/p>\n

As announced by the president of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, Austelino Correia, the proposal will now be \u201cdownloaded\u201d to the specialized commission for the \u201cnecessary adjustments\u201d, and then returned to the plenary, for approval in the specialty.<\/p>\n

In the first parliamentary session in January, the PAICV bench asked for the diploma to be removed from the agenda, justifying the need for the joint committee to look into the changes.<\/p>\n

Under current law, recognition of the de facto union of a foreigner with a Cape Verdean national can be done in the court of the place of the last common residence of the cohabitants, but the Government now proposes that it can be requested from any diplomatic agent or consular agent in Cape Verde. competent green guy.<\/p>\n
