Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The administrator of SolAtla\u0302ntico, Henrique Duarte, justified this Tuesday the bus delays with traffic and proposed the creation of a \u201cbus corridor\u201d along the route of line 15, which connects Plato\u0302 to the Palmarejo Grande University Campus.<\/p>\n

Henrique Duarte, who spoke to Inforpress regarding yet another complaint from students at the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) about the delays of buses operated by the Public Passenger Transport Company operating in the city of Praia, stated that the situation on this line is complex.<\/p>\n

The person in charge indicated that Solatla\u0302ntico has six buses on line 15 and said that the company’s management is aware of the delays, which are also recorded on other lines.<\/p>\n

However, he explained that the delay occurs, above all, during peak hours, when traffic is heaviest in the city of Praia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem is traffic and the bus cannot maintain the desired frequency or schedule. For us the main reason is this. We have six larger capacity buses on this line. But we know that between 12:30 and 1 pm they get the queue in both directions and it becomes difficult to keep to the schedules,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to the administrator, these are complex situations that occur not only at Uni-CV, but also at other points, namely in Plato\u0302, with the departure of high school students.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he said that the company had suggested to the Ministry of Education that it differentiate the times for the entry and exit of students in a phased manner, in order to avoid everyone leaving at the same time and causing large crowds at stops, demanding answers that the company did not can give.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a situation that does not depend on us alone\u201d, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

In the specific case of Uni-CV students, he states that there is openness on the part of the company’s administration to find solutions that are less painful for the students, but states that this is a problem that unfortunately the company has not been able to respond to because it does not depend solely on of its resources.<\/p>\n

The proposal for now involves the creation of a “bus corridor” so that buses and other public transport vehicles could circulate without major constraints and long delays.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suggestion we see is to open a road, create a bus corridor. It could be in the central lane where during the peak traffic period this lane would be open to buses and other transport vehicles. And then alternate this direction when the traffic goes in the opposite direction\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause if you notice and the students can confirm this, there is a certain time when the buses go without any major problems, but then when they return they will hit traffic on the way, and no matter how much they want, they cannot arrive in time to satisfy the remaining students. \u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Henrique Duarte states that SolAtla\u0302ntico’s administration is sensitive to students’ problems and is also open to proposing solutions to overcome this problem.<\/p>\n

This Monday, the 25th, a group of students complained about the delay of the buses and asked for better management of line 15 which runs the route Plato\u0302 \u2013 Palmarejo Grande university campus.<\/p>\n

Students who start classes at 7:30 consider that the situation has been complicated and difficult and demand a solution with the aim of offering more dignity in accessing public transport.<\/p>\n
