At the microphones of Ra\u0301dio Morabeza, De\u0301bora Fortes, an 11th year student, points out a series of reasons that led the students to the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis manifestation occurs due to many situations, namely the lack of teachers, lack of content for biannual subjects. We also have problems with backlogged subjects in the 9th and 10th years, since the program is different compared to the time in which we studied. In other words, we are going to do the tests blindly, without any idea of \u200b\u200bwhat will come out. We also have the issue of freezing grades. Many classmates who were still dwarfs had access to their notes. The system is failing us\u201d, he says.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandre Delgado, is also in the 11th year. His concern is related to the lack of materials to study for exams, particularly in the literature subject.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo years ago they introduced Mandarin and Spanish and there are still no teachers. We will have a loss in our curriculum. Another thing, we are in the third quarter and in subjects like ICT and Literature there are no notes. And we are going to take an exam in Literature that is worth 30% of the grade\u201d, he says.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the press, the delegate from the Ministry of Education of Sa\u0303o Vicente, Jorge da Luz, says he was surprised by the students&#8217; demonstration. Regarding the freezing of grades for the second quarter, the person responsible states that only seven teachers withheld the assessments for the second term.<\/p>\n<p>The delegate explains that it was not possible to open Mandarin and Spanish subjects in schools, which has no impact on student assessment, but recognizes the lack of a program for the Literature subject in Year 11.\u201cLiterature is a subject where we still have some difficulties because we don\u2019t have the program yet. But there have been recommendations from the National Directorate of Education and there has been what is possible in relation to this subject\u201d, he explains.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the alleged lack of teachers, Jorge da Luz says that the situation concerns a class in a basic school, whose main teacher suffered an accident, but who is being replaced.
