Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the board of directors of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Joa\u0303o Cardoso, promised today, in the city of Praia, to resolve workers’ complaints \u201calways under the legislation in force in Cape Verde\u201d.<\/p>\n

This Monday, the 15th, the workers denounced, \u201cwith a cry of revolt\u201d, the \u201cincapacity\u201d of the management board and the \u201cpractice of harassment\u201d of those they accuse of illegally rejecting compliance with established agreements.<\/p>\n

However, in a press conference, in reaction to the employees’ complaints, Joa\u0303o Cardoso, acknowledged that INE has staff employed for some years who have been complaining about the precarious employment relationship, which they are requesting due regularization, \u201cmoving towards a more robust, fair and safe”.<\/p>\n

“The INE board of directors, taking this situation into account, began a process of analyzing this dossier, in an attempt to seek better solutions for the complainants, but always under the applicable legislation”, explained Joa\u0303o Cardoso, informing that this negotiation process is in its initial phase.<\/p>\n

“This process is still at the beginning and has several stages, so once again I ask for due trust and serenity from employees until the process is completed”, he appealed.<\/p>\n

Cardoso assured that it is “totally false” that the board of directors forced employees to sign contracts, urging those who made this accusation to prove it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still surprised and repudiate the accusation of harassment made by the representative of the Union of Industry, Services, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (SISCAP) which is rooted in the spirit of bad faith\u201d, added Joa\u0303o Cardoso, also finding the public demonstration held this Monday strange. – Friday, 15th, in front of the institution\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n

Regarding the complaint regarding the transition to INE’s new Positions, Careers and Salary Plan (PCCS), arising with the publication of ordinance no. 11\/2021, the person responsible guaranteed that the institution applied the rules of the process and that since then all workers are duly classified under the aforementioned ordinance.<\/p>\n

\u201cSISCAP has been demanding the change of this ordinance and the previously revised transition rules. This board of directors has always expressed openness to listening to their demands and seeking a consensus with the superintendence\u201d, explained the president of INE, adding that this union knows that the institution is looking for a better solution for the placement of technicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor these negotiations to reach a successful conclusion, INE urges all technicians and other employees to maintain the bond of trust that guides any work and\/or service relationship and to respect the laws that govern it\u201d, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

To conclude, INE’s board of directors reaffirmed its commitment to continue working for the good of the institution and of all those who dedicate their efforts to fulfilling the mission of producing statistical data.<\/p>\n
