Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verde has a delegation of 15 people at the Web Summit in Rio de Janeiro with the mission of reinforcing remote work by Cape Verdeans for Brazilian companies, the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy said this Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201c[We came] to present Brazil with a talent platform. We want young Cape Verdeans not to have to leave Cape Verde and to be able to work remotely in Brazil\u201d, Pedro Lopes summed up the Cape Verdean ambition, in a press conference during the second edition of the Web Summit in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

In order to fulfill this ambition, Cabo Verde Digital today signed a memorandum of understanding with a Brazilian startup founded by a Cape Verdean \u201cthat employs and seeks talent in Cape Verde to work in Brazilian companies\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came to tell Brazil that Cape Verde can be a gateway to the African continent\u201d, highlighted Pedro Lopes.<\/p>\n

The characteristics of Cape Verde allow this, assured the Cape Verdean official, as they are the closest African country to Brazil, in addition to the historical and cultural relationship that exists with this South American country.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur history is often associated with people who were enslaved. We have no taboo with our history, but we want to retell our story,\u201d she said, adding that innovation and technology is \u201ca tool to give them strength.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Technology Park, which the Government plans to put into operation this year to boost the digital economy sector, will bring competitive fiscal conditions for international companies to establish themselves in Cape Verde, according to the person responsible.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a small country, known for tourism, but we want to rely more and more on international companies\u201d, he said, adding that the mission involves \u201cpositioning a small country for the continent of the future\u201d, in a continent \u201cthat is eager for change\u201d .<\/p>\n

\u201cA country where people are not persecuted for their skin color, their religion, their sexuality and this makes Cape Verde a safe haven for this new youth\u201d, he concluded.<\/p>\n

Until Thursday, Riocentro, in Barra da Tijuca, will receive more than 30,000 participants, from at least 100 countries, more than 1,000 startups, around 600 investors and 600 speakers, in a structure supported by more than 210 partners and 400 volunteers , according to the organization.<\/p>\n

The technological event, which began in 2010 in Ireland, began to be held in the Parque das Nac\u0327o\u0303es area, in Lisbon, in 2016 and will remain in the Portuguese capital until 2028.
