Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister of Portugal, Lui\u0301s Montenegro, said Saturday that \u201cwhat can be expected from Portugal is respect for the dignity of people\u201d and greater agility in terms of visas to enter the country and treatment of the migratory flow.<\/p>\n

The leader of the Portuguese Government was speaking at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, in Praia.<\/p>\n

There are no changes to the rules with the new Government, he clarified, considering it natural that there would be \u201cmore agile rules\u201d with countries with greater proximity, such as Cape Verde or others that speak Portuguese. \u201cThat\u2019s not in question, let\u2019s be clear,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, unfortunately, it is clear that we have accumulated problems in the agency that replaced the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) in terms of service and response readiness. And this is hurting people a lot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In addition to the immediate problems in reception, it encourages \u201cthe use of suffering by networks that take advantage of vulnerability to extort resources\u201d, already scarce, from those who emigrate to Portugal in search of a better life.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the intention of the Portuguese Government to have a policy of doors that are neither wide open nor closed, a policy of regulation that respects rights\u201d, he said, promising \u201cmore agility in this process\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea that we can function without rules is utopian, nor does it have advantages for those looking for quality of life\u201d, but, on the other hand, \u201cthe idea of \u200b\u200bclosing doors and frustrating mobility\u201d is also not viable, so \u201cit is we are focusing on the balance, with more agile mechanisms\u201d, said the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, in recent years, the search for more agile solutions ended up leading to clogging of services and we have to do some things\u201d to \u201cunclog\u201d them, because \u201cthey are not providing a capable response\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Lui\u0301s Montenegro guaranteed the continuity of professional training projects supported by Portugal in Cape Verde, considering the ongoing process \u201cvirtuous\u201d: investing in training in the archipelago so that Portugal can receive qualified staff, absorbed in economic activity, with protection and guarantees, in what he classified as \u201cthe best way to welcome and integrate immigrant labor\u201d.<\/p>\n

This is a \u201cstrategic bet that interests both countries\u201d and that \u201chas nothing to do with the parliamentary framework we have in Portugal\u201d, he said, in response to a journalist who questioned the risk that the increase in extreme deputies -right can bring.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t occur to me that anyone could call into question\u201d a project with such a virtuous \u201cframework\u201d, not even \u201cthat they have doubts about migratory flows\u201d, concluded Montenegro.<\/p>\n

On the Government side, Ulisses Correia e Silva hopes that labor mobility can be guaranteed \u201cwith rights, in a structured and organized way\u201d, serving as an example of what relations between Europe and Africa can be.<\/p>\n
