Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Luxembourg Cooperation, through the second secretary of the embassy, \u200b\u200brecognized this Thursday Cape Verde’s efforts in collecting data to understand the country’s needs in various sectors.<\/p>\n

This recognition was made by Michele Schmitt at the opening of the training of field agents promoted by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), to carry out the Multi-objective-Continuous Survey (IMC) 2024, which has as a novelty the introduction of the module \u201cEnvironment and Climate Change\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognize the fundamental role of this national data collection effort in understanding the country’s needs in various sectors,\u201d he said, considering that the IMC has been an \u201cimportant\u201d instrument in filling critical data gaps by providing robust knowledge that guides policies. and the development of Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

For Miche\u0301le Schmitt, this year, with the inclusion of specialized modules on climate change and energy transition, a significant step forward is taken, having highlighted that these advances result from the fruitful cooperation between the Government of Cape Verde and Luxembourg in the context of the fifth indicative cooperation program.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetailed questions on energy sources will identify key areas for improvements in infrastructure and energy efficiency while questions on climate impacts such as damage from extreme events will assess community vulnerability and preparedness and inform targeted interventions for climate resilience,\u201d he said..<\/p>\n

According to her, it is with pleasure that Luxembourg is supporting another key survey carried out by INE, remembering that this collaboration was recently \u201cgreatly deepened\u201d through a convention signed in March between the two parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is how we are working together to consolidate Cape Verde’s statistical system\u201d, he assured.<\/p>\n

Regarding training, he states that it is a first step towards ensuring the quality of data collection, having highlighted the \u201cvital role\u201d of enumerators in the success of this \u201cimportant\u201d survey.<\/p>\n

Data collection for the first IMC 2024 takes place from May 21st to June 30th through the 117 field agents who began training today in the City of Praia and Sa\u0303o Vicente, and around 9,918 households will be approached.<\/p>\n
