Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The president of PAICV, Rui Semedo, said today that Africa needs to be inspired by its thinkers to rediscover and find new ways of acting so as not to be left on the sidelines of events, much less dragged along.<\/p>\n

Rui Semedo’s statements this morning. on the sidelines of the International Colloquium entitled \u201cIn the Centenary of Ami\u0301lcar Cabral, Africa faces the effects of a changing world order: What is the role of the Democratic Left in this context\u201d, which took place in one of the hotels in the city of Praia, organized by PAICV, in partnership with the Jean Jaure\u0301s Foundation.<\/p>\n

According to the president of PAICV, this colloquium aims to form and promote exchange between its leaders, activists and friends with international representatives from the Central African Republic, Chad, Mali, to together better understand what is happening in the world and how to formulate strategies to defend the interests of each African country present.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfrica has a fundamental role and has the opportunity to take advantage of the reconfiguration of global powers to strengthen its influence and promote its development. And this can be achieved through dialogues between nations\u201d, stated Rui Semedo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world is in the process of great and rapid transformation and we are challenged to act to be active actors in this transformational process and find spaces for transformation”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

In this aspect he argued that in this \u201cworld of uncertainty\u201d, using the idea of \u200b\u200bAmi\u0301lcar Cabral, above all, in thinking to act and acting to better think or also giving another idea of \u200b\u200bthinking with each individual’s head, a path is built fairer, freer and more democratic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have faced challenges as a party of the democratic left to act to influence transformations and emphasize the values \u200b\u200bof peace, freedom, equality, justice and solidarity\u201d, he assured.<\/p>\n

For this politician, this colloquium is an opportunity to point out clues, to discover flaws and know how to correct them, to establish a new course \u201cmore aligned\u201d with the principles and values \u200b\u200blinked for reasons of the political and ideological order.<\/p>\n

Regarding the challenges, he asserted that the challenges are multiple, namely climate and environmental issues and other issues related to political and geostrategic dynamics, which, as he stated, could eventually be the cause of various conflicts.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he assured that PAICV, with its \u201cstrong\u201d responsibility, \u201ccannot ignore\u201d these new challenges, but must prepare itself so that Cape Verde can have its own agenda, drawing on its experience.<\/p>\n

For his part, the representative of the Jean Jaure\u0301s Foundation said that Africa loses a little in rivalry and competition, therefore, he said, this continent has to see how it can emancipate itself and assert itself in international relations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe answer is not easy and obvious, therefore, free and balanced collaborators are needed in which the country itself has to impose its point of view on how its international relations can be organized while being emancipated and asserting itself\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

At Cape Verde level, he emphasized that Cape Verde must know how to impose its strategy to position itself in partnership with other collaborators, but with its own independence.<\/p>\n
