The doctor provided the information this morning, as a summary of the technical mission in vascular surgery that is at the Hospital Universita\u0301rio Agostinho Neto (HUAN) to assess the conditions for implementing the kidney transplant project in the country and carry out surgeries for patients with complicated cases. of arteriovenous fistula.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn two months, Cape Verde will be able to carry out transplants for patients with kidney problems. Here it is simple to find young donors for a given patient, that is, family members are always available, unlike in Portugal\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

Regarding technical conditions, the doctor who is also the head of the Portuguese mission, who was accompanied by the urologist surgeon, specialized in kidney transplant Paulo Pri\u0301ncipe, stated that HUAN has the support of Portuguese cooperation in carrying out compatibility tests.<\/p>\n

But given these essential conditions for carrying out interventions, Anto\u0301nio Norton de Matos assured that HUAN needs maintenance on some carpentry equipment in the operating theater space, in order to improve conditions at the time of surgery and acquire small instruments to complement what already has, guaranteeing that the rest is all \u201cfeasible\u201d, to perform surgeries.<\/p>\n

He also stated that a transplant patient spends “less money” at the hospital, leads a normal life, has longer lifespan, fewer illnesses and complications than patients who undergo dialysis.<\/p>\n

For the surgeon in this area Denise Pereira, the mission brought \u201cgreat gains\u201d to the hospital and to Cape Verde, as she said that 30 successful surgeries were carried out, and that the patients are \u201cin a good mood\u201d.<\/p>\n
