Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The import of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and tobacco in Cape Verde will be under greater control with the entry into force of digital tax stamps, the Government announced today.<\/p>\n

The objective is to \u201cuse information technologies to reinforce security, combat counterfeiting and prevent tax fraud\u201d, announced the Cape Verdean Ministry of Finance, in a statement.<\/p>\n

The regulations were published in October and old stamps can be used until the end of June.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, all importers must start using the Digital Stamp Traceability Platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe request for digital seals is requested from customs by the producer or importer previously registered on the traceability platform, in the quantities produced or imported at the time, by filling out the form on the said platform\u201d, detailed the ministry.<\/p>\n

The Traceability Platform is already working and \u201cthere is a pilot team that participated in the process of requesting and using the new seals\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to published testimonies, the average time for the complete request process varies between one and 10 minutes and procedures involving paper are eliminated.<\/p>\n

The rules in force were already 62 years old, only covered paper sealing and lacked alignment with the current legal context, justified the text that introduced the law.<\/p>\n
