Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The PAICV parliamentary group (opposition) considered that TACV is in a situation of indecision, and that the Government has failed in the air transport sector that is \u201ca lot of disability\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

These considerations went to the press by Carla Lima, as vice-president of the PAICV Parliamentary Group, after a meeting with the administration of TACV on Tuesday to address concerns related to the air transport sector, in the context of the preparation of the debate of the State of the Nation, scheduled for the 31st.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarian explained that the group intended with this visit to understand in a more detailed way the challenges of the company, since the country has had \u201cenormous deficiencies\u201d in the transport sector, both sea and air, especially with the departure of Bestfly and the resumption of domestic flights from TACV.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have verified that the situation has been quite irregular, we have had cancellations, delays, some indecision regarding what the Government wants in relation to the domestic civil aviation sector, and we wanted to hear from the new executive committee of TACV what they are and will do to stabilize the domestic flights,\u201d<\/b> he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo comply with what was promised by the Government in terms of international flights and mainly materialize the company\u2019s financial restructuring and sustainability plan,\u201d<\/b> he said.<\/p>\n

According to Carla Lima, for whom at the moment the transport service does not respond to the needs of Cape Verdeans, and at the same time have a country to \u201cspend a lot of public money\u201d to maintain air operations, both international and inter-island, the PAICV wants to know what direction the Government intends to take to the flag company.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the failure of all that was the government\u2019s plan in relation to privatization. Public debt has increased substantially due to the costs of these operations, and the Government to hide this failure in the air transport sector is injecting money, without ever having a quality service,\u201d<\/b> he criticized, understanding at the same time that the new executive committee of TACV will have to have time to get better out of the situation of the company.<\/p>\n

Reiterating that TACV, a company with 190 workers is in a \u201cindecision situation\u201d, with two ATR under wet leasing regime, that is, a more expensive rental, which comes, as explained, with the crew, insurance and maintenance all included, while there are workers receiving without being able to work, the same source said that this is an issue that has to be seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou spend more money on that. This is a question that has to be seen. With the departure of Bestfly the domestic flights announced, the Government still says that it will create another company… it is not known what company it is. Therefore, TACV is in a moment of indecision. It is necessary that the Government really assumes that there are problems and that it has failed in the air transport sector,\u201d he<\/b> stressed.<\/p>\n
