Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Mayor of Sa\u0303o Miguel, Herme\u0301nio Fernandes, stated that today Calheta is a cosmopolitan, healthy, organized city and a reference in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

Herme\u0301nio Fernandes gave a summary of the current situation in the city of this municipality in Santiago, which today celebrated the day of its patron saint, Our Lady of Socorro.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, the city of Calheta is a reference because it is clean and healthy, which has gone from two events eight years ago to eight annual cultural events, and which creates a market for artists, cultural promoters and values \u200b\u200bcreative industries (…)\u201d, said the mayor in statements to the press.<\/p>\n

All of this, as he argued, is due to the \u201cstrong investment\u201d in the territory, which today has better accessibility, modern roads, requalified neighborhoods, with humanized and inclusive public spaces, with improved access to water, improved public lighting and access to energy, and with improved urban planning and development.<\/p>\n

And also with the creation of industrial zones and zones for investment in tourism and other areas.<\/p>\n

During the interview, he reaffirmed that Calheta in 2024 \u201chas nothing to do\u201d with that of 2015 and that the transformations registered in recent years \u201care undeniable\u201d, and these gains are \u201ca source of pride\u201d for all residents of Sa\u0303o Miguel and in the diaspora.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he said he had no doubt that the signs of confidence registered have attracted investment in the municipality, especially from emigrants from Sa\u0303o Miguel in various economic areas.<\/p>\n
