Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The next bilateral summit between Portugal and Cape Verde will be held on 27 and 28 January in Lisbon, a source from the office of Portuguese Prime Minister Lui\u0301s Montenegro told Lusa today.<\/p>\n

The summit was announced during the Portuguese Prime Minister’s visit to Cape Verde in April, and was initially scheduled for 19 November, the date on which Lui\u0301s Montenegro will be in Brazil to participate as a guest country in the G20 meeting of heads of state and government in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, had already said that the bilateral meeting would only take place in January, when he received his Cape Verdean counterpart, Filomeno Monteiro, in Lisbon in October.<\/p>\n

During that meeting, the two ministers \u201creviewed cooperation relations\u201d, reflected in the Strategic Cooperation Programme (PECC) 2022-2026 \u201cwhich will be subject to a more detailed assessment at the next bilateral summit between the two governments\u201d.<\/p>\n

The summit should be accompanied by a bilateral meeting between businesspeople and economic agents from both countries, as announced by the Portuguese Prime Minister in April, arguing that special relations deserve \u201cspecial events\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen Portuguese companies investing in Cape Verde, with good results\u201d, Montenegro said.<\/p>\n

At the time, the Cape Verdean Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said he hoped that \u201can investment forum that is comprehensive and broad-ranging to tourism, the blue economy, the digital economy, industry and opportunities, as well as digital transformation and energy transition\u201d, would be organised on the sidelines of the summit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is room, desire and conditions to strengthen the economic and business partnership, taking advantage of opportunities in various areas\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
