Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>According to a source from the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), the TC’s decision was taken unanimously, confirming the General Counting Assembly’s decision giving the PAICV victory in the local elections of December 1st for the Municipal Council of Sa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o dos O\u0301rga\u0303os (Santiago) by one vote.<\/p>\n

According to the agreement of the general counting notice consulted by Inforpress, the PAICV obtained 1,608 votes, the Movement for Democracy (MpD) 1,607 and the Independent and Democratic Union of Cape Verde (UCID) 54 votes.<\/p>\n

The PAICV elected three councilors, including the new mayor, Euclides Cabral, and the MpD elected two councilors, including the outgoing mayor Carlos Vasconcelos, who has led the municipality since 2016.<\/p>\n

For the municipal assembly, the PAICV obtained 1,601 votes, the MpD 1,585 votes and the UCID 67, meaning that the PAICV elected seven municipal members and the MpD received six.<\/p>\n

According to a source from the party who told Inforpress, the TC has not yet ruled on the appeal by the PAICV, which also requests that a nullified vote be validated in favor of the party.<\/p>\n

In Sa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o dos O\u0301rga\u0303os, of the 5,802 registered voters, a total of 3,235 exercised their right to vote and 2,449 abstained.<\/p>\n
