Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Finance Minister Olavo Correia announced today that the technical, economic and financial feasibility study for the Cabo Verde Hospital project \u201cis practically complete\u201d, and the Government will therefore make \u201cimportant decisions\u201d on the matter in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Olavo Correia made these statements to the press in Praia, on the sidelines of the meeting of the National Council for the Development of the Financial Sector (CNDSF).<\/p>\n

The minister explained that the hospital is a priority for the country and that the technical, economic and financial feasibility study is \u201cpractically complete\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe study is practically ready, in terms of technical aspects, level of service, type of service we want to provide, but also in terms of the economic and financial aspects of the investment and its management\u201d, stated Olavo Correia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in a position to meet in the Council of Ministers in the coming days to make a decision on moving forward with this project\u201d, assured the Finance Minister.<\/p>\n

Although funding has not yet been fully secured, the minister assured that the Government is actively working to create the necessary conditions for the investment to be made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe studies are well advanced and we will soon be ready to start the works\u201d, added Olavo Correia.<\/p>\n

The minister also clarified that the initial forecast for completion in 2023 was for a private project, which did not move forward due to the pandemic and other difficulties.<\/p>\n

Now, he continued, it is a project led by the Government, which is being developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health and with the support of Cape Verdean technicians spread across the world.<\/p>\n

The hospital will be built in the city of Praia, on the Island of Santiago, but will have a national impact, serving all Cape Verdeans as well as tourists and residents seeking health services in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to delivering a solid project that will meet the needs of the national health system and that will be a source of pride for the country\u201d, concluded the deputy prime minister.<\/p>\n
