The number of visitors to museums and the tourist circuit of the Old City registered a significant increase in 2024, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage in the tourist, economic and social context of communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now finalizing the statistics, preparing the publication of visitor statistics, and in the case, for example, of museums, we had a total of 40 thousand visitors in 2024. We are talking about an increase of around 20% compared to 2023, and also in relation to the Old City there is a significant increase in entries\u201d, he revealed.<\/p>\n

Ana Samira Baessa spoke in statements to Inforpress, as part of the presentation of the IPC’s activity plan for this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year we are seeing a significant increase in entries, both in our museums and in the tourist circuit of the Old City, which demonstrates the relevance of cultural heritage in the tourist context, in the economic and social context of these communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Among the most popular museums, the highlight is the Tarrafal Concentration Camp Museum, which registered around 20 thousand visitors, followed by the Sea Museum, with approximately 6 thousand visitors.<\/p>\n

The final result of the statistics will be announced later.<\/p>\n

Ana Samira Baessa mentioned that these numbers reflect the growing appreciation of cultural heritage and its attractiveness for tourism, contributing to local development and the dynamism of the economy.<\/p>\n
