Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha, announced this Thursday, in Parliament, that by the end of 2025 the National Police will have around 2,220 officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the entry of new personnel, in 2025 we will reach a ratio of one personnel for every 230 resident citizens\u201d, indicated the minister, recognizing, however, that it is still \u201cnot the ideal number of personnel given the missions and numerous attributions of the National Police\u201d.<\/p>\n

Paulo Rocha made these considerations during the government questioning session.<\/p>\n

Responding to the concerns of the deputies, the minister clarified that since 2016, when the Government took office, there has been \u201ccontinuous\u201d investment not only in strengthening the police force, but also in operational resources, namely vehicles and communication equipment.<\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow, at the closing ceremony of the National Police Command Council meeting, we will be delivering four more operational vehicles,\u201d promised Paulo Rocha.<\/p>\n

Asked when the 132 newly trained agents would be integrated, the minister responded that this integration would be done \u201cvery soon\u201d, adding that the process was following its normal procedures.<\/p>\n

Regarding the quality of the vehicles made available to the National Police, Paulo Rocha said that these are procedures that involve competitions, but issues relating to costs, adaptation to the terrain and also the type of fuel available in Cape Verde have always been present.<\/p>\n

Recently, the director of the National Police, Emanuel Estaline Moreno, revealed that the crime rate in Cape Verde decreased by 10.1% in 2024, compared to the previous year, with a total of 20,524 criminal occurrences and 184,693 operations registered by the National Police.<\/p>\n

As indicated, throughout 2024 a total of 184,693 police operations were carried out, including various policing actions and police interventions in general, planned and carried out in close coordination with other entities.<\/p>\n
