Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Mindelact Theatre Association is organising some shows and other activities in Mindelo until the 30th to mark \u201cMarch, the month of theatre\u201d and to boost the performing arts on the island.<\/p>\n

As the president of Mindelact, Yannick Pimenta, told Inforpress, the programme aims to reinforce the importance of theatre as a means of artistic expression and social reflection.<\/p>\n

According to the same source, the aim is also to promote dialogue between creators and the public.<\/p>\n

The programme began last Friday, the 14th, with an \u2018open conversation\u2019 on the theme \u201cCape Verdean theatre: Identity, challenges and paths for the future\u201d.<\/p>\n

The shows began today with the first play \u201cFrom the sea to the glass\u201d, by A Consulting and Escola de Cha\u0303 de Cemite\u0301rio, aimed especially at children.<\/p>\n

Also scheduled for this Friday is the show \u201cA canc\u0327a\u0303o do raposa\u201d by the group Spot Dividid.<\/p>\n

For the weekend, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, the \u201cMarch, month of theatre\u201d programme also includes \u201cMaumdia\u201d by Zenaida Alfama and \u201cKatiuska e Chatonilda\u201d by Morabeza Teatro.<\/p>\n

On the 28th, the performance of the play \u201cSozinha no palco\u201d by the Xpressa\u0301 Theatre School is scheduled, which will also return to the stage on the 29th and 30th with \u201cNa mund d \u0301coza runhe tem teatro\u201d, which will close the event\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n

The shows will be staged at the Mindelo Cultural Centre (CCM) and the Jotamont Academy.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the Mindelact Association\u2019s programme also includes a general assembly of the institution, scheduled for Tuesday 25th at the Salesiana School of Mindelo.<\/p>\n

On World Theatre Day, celebrated on Thursday the 27th, the ceremony to present the Theatrical Merit Award will take place, as usual, which rewards people, groups and entities that stand out in the Cape Verdean theatre scene.<\/p>\n
