Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>A 30-year-old foreign citizen from Senegal was arrested last Friday, the 4th, in possession of 1,22.1 grams of cocaine, and was ordered to be held in preventive detention by the Praia Court.<\/p>\n

The cocaine, according to the Judicial Police (PJ), was \u201cdisguised\u201d in capsules, hidden both in the passenger\u2019s body and among the passenger\u2019s luggage.<\/p>\n

The scientific police report that the drug has a \u201chigh degree of purity\u201d and that 1,250 euros in cash were also seized, which is equivalent to around 137,500 Cape Verdean escudos, in addition to a cell phone.<\/p>\n

This operation was launched by the Central Section for the Investigation of Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime (SCITECO) of the scientific police.<\/p>\n

The same source said that the suspect was brought before the Praia District Court on Saturday morning, the 5th, for the first interrogation, and preventive detention was applied as a coercive measure.<\/p>\n

The accused will await the next procedural steps at the Praia Central Penitentiary.<\/p>\n
