{"id":29231,"date":"2025-05-20T22:55:29","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T22:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/cape-verde\/all-news\/fire-leaves-17-injured-on-oil-platform-in-angola"},"modified":"2025-05-20T22:57:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T22:57:25","slug":"fire-leaves-17-injured-on-oil-platform-in-angola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/cape-verde\/all-news\/fire-leaves-17-injured-on-oil-platform-in-angola","title":{"rendered":"Fire Leaves 17 Injured on Oil Platform in Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>A fire caused 17 injuries this morning, four of which were serious, on an oil platform in Angola owned by a Chevron subsidiary, the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (Anpg) announced.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement, the Angolan concessionaire said that the fire occurred around 3 am, on the subsoil deck of the Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) deep-water platform of Cabinda Golf Oil Company Limited (Cabgoc), located in Block 14, in the maritime zone of Cabinda.<\/p>\n<p>According to Anpg, the injured are all on the ground and receiving appropriate medical care, and the cause of the incident is being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incident occurred at a time when the BBLT facility was undergoing annual maintenance, as part of a scheduled shutdown activity, with all production at the site having ceased since May 1,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement describes that Cabgoc responded immediately and successfully extinguished the fire, and all protocols were activated to carry out emergency response procedures and notify relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The Angolan concessionaire stressed that the priority at this time is \u201cto guarantee the safety of all personnel, ensure the best possible care for the injured and determine the root cause of the incident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Cabgoc is a subsidiary of Chevron in Angola, which operates two concessions on behalf of its partners in Block 0: Sonangol E. P. (41%), TotalEnergies EP Petroleum (Angola) SAS.
