Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Writer Vera Duarte said on Monday that there has been a \u201cvery expressive\u201d presence of the woman\u2019s voice in Cabo Verdean poetry, moving from the inspiring muse to having a more present voice in this field.<\/p>\n

The poet also made these statements to Inforpress on the occasion of World Poetry Day which is marked on March 21, annually, to celebrate the diversity of dialogue, the free creation of ideas through words, creativity and innovation.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we notice great differences in relation to what we had in the old days, it is for now this very expressive presence of the woman\u2019s voice in Cabo Verdean poetry. We went from a time when women were the inspiring muses and we now live in a period when the woman\u2019s voice in poetry is increasingly present and more listened to,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if I can quote, the Brazilian professor Simone Caputo Gomes, a great scholar of Cabo Verdean literature, said in an interview that she thinks that Orlanda Amar\u00edlis, Vera Duarte, Dina Sal\u00fastio are presences that are already in the Cabo Verdean literary field,\u201d she said, explaining that there was once virtually no recognized female voice with visibility, but currently there are recognized voices, with visibilities and awarded prizes.<\/p>\n
