Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) promised to clarify public opinion at a press conference today regarding ticket sales for the Cape Verde vs. Eswatini match, amid a wave of spectator protests.<\/p>\n

On sale at the Va\u0301rzea Stadium ticket office and at some sales points in the capital, tickets for access to the National Stadium for Monday the 13th’s match between Cape Verde and Eswatini, part of the 10th and final round of Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament, have been the subject of intense protests from fans and supporters.<\/p>\n

They claim that tickets for the covered central stand (500 CVE) sold out without even being put on sale at the ticket office, but are now being sold on the black market at prices around three thousand escudos each.<\/p>\n

On social media and in the public square, there has been a wave of discontent among spectators as they desperately sought access to the stadium for the match that could determine Cape Verde’s unprecedented qualification for the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Contacted by Inforpress about this demonstration, the president of the Cape Verdean Football Federation, Ma\u0301rio Semedo, stated that the institution that oversees Cape Verdean football will clarify the public regarding ticket sales at a press conference, held by one of its vice presidents.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Va\u0301rzea stadium, tickets were sold at Enacol ticket offices in Sucupira and Palmarejo, at Shell Achada Sa\u0303o Filipe ticket offices, and at Pastelaria Vilu\u0301 in Planalto, at prices of R$500 for the central stands, R$300 for the open stands, and R$100 for the north and south stands (behind the goals).<\/p>\n

The FCF announced that tickets will be sold to a maximum of five people.<\/p>\n

Cape Verde leads Pool D with 20 points, followed by Cameroon (18), Libya (15), Angola (11), Mauritius (5), and Eswatini (3).<\/p>\n

The 54 African countries, according to the new regulations, were divided into nine groups of six teams (Groups A to I), and the winners of each group automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n

The four best second-place teams will compete in a final four to decide the team that will represent Africa in an intercontinental playoff, which could increase the number of African countries in the tournament to be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico to 10.<\/p>\n
