Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>On Friday, Uni-CV launched the Center for Research in Business and Governance (CING), a unit that aims to transform scientific knowledge into direct support for the formulation of public policies and the strengthening of the Cape Verdean business sector.<\/p>\n

In statements to the press, on the sidelines of the presentation ceremony, promoted by the School of Business and Governance of Uni-CV, the director of CING, Anto\u0301nio Baptista, explained that the center arises within the framework of ongoing reforms at the university to consolidate \u201ca robust and articulated research ecosystem\u201d aligned with the challenges of national development.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur objective is to raise awareness within the academic community and the country about the importance of research as an instrument to support governance and the national economy. Cape Verde faces major challenges, such as unemployment, economic growth, and the creation of decent jobs, and we believe that the university has the skills to contribute to solutions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, CING is mostly composed of PhDs and experienced researchers in the areas of economics, management, entrepreneurship, public policy, and governance, and will act as a center of excellence in the production and dissemination of applied knowledge.<\/p>\n

He said the center is already operational and is currently finalizing its management instruments, especially its internal regulations, code of ethics, and research proposal templates.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he added, existing projects in the legal, economic, and foreign relations areas are being reorganized to formally integrate them into the new center.<\/p>\n

Among the priorities, the director highlighted the involvement of students in scientific initiation programs from the third year of their course onwards, to stimulate critical thinking and investigative vocation on national issues.<\/p>\n

Anto\u0301nio Baptista also emphasized that the center will pay particular attention to sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and industry, “frequently neglected in academic research,” but strategic for the national economy.<\/p>\n

“Investing in human capital is investing in the future of the country.” \u201cWe want to raise the bar for research done in Cape Verde and position CING as an active partner of the State and businesses in the search for sustainable solutions,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Anto\u0301nio Baptista also highlighted that CING aims to fill an existing gap in the country, especially the lack of systematized information on the economic and business sector.<\/p>\n

The center also intends to be a space for cooperation with the public and private sectors and civil society, promoting joint projects and applied studies that contribute to more sustainable and inclusive policies.<\/p>\n

CING was created under resolution no. 002\/CONSU\/2019 and integrates the research and development ecosystem of Uni-CV, promoting research, advanced training and knowledge extension in the areas of economics, management, finance, administration and legal and political sciences.<\/p>\n
