Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Praia City Hall, through the Praia Municipal Police Station, carried out a major awareness campaign this Wednesday in Plato\u0302 and Palmarejo regarding the new rules for conducting commerce and providing services.<\/p>\n

The action was promoted within the context of the recent approval of the resolution establishing new rules for the exercise of retail and service activities in the capital.<\/p>\n

In statements to the press during the operation, the director of the Praia Municipal Police, Jailson da Costa, informed that all commercial establishments will be covered in order to guarantee greater discipline and organization in the activities carried out in the city of Praia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here to reinforce the dissemination of the resolution and ensure that everyone has the same information, because not everyone has access to the national press, and they leave home early to work and don’t get to consult these documents,\u201d he stressed, stating that when it comes to awareness campaigns, people tend to receive the information more positively.<\/p>\n

Among the main new aspects of the resolution, Jailson da Costa highlighted the extension of hours for establishments to hold activities such as dancing or music.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt stipulates that businesses must meet the conditions to ensure that the sound does not escape outside, and other activities held inside establishments, residences, or near neighborhoods must have written approval in which all neighbors agree that the sound produced will not disturb them,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

In addition, he indicated the signage for areas where sales are prohibited, which, he said, will facilitate enforcement and prevent vendors from improperly occupying public spaces.<\/p>\n

Infractions, according to the resolution, will be punished with fines ranging from R$ 50,000 for individuals to R$ 500,000 for legal entities, in the case of non-compliance with the hours, for example.<\/p>\n

The Councillor for Social Action and Decentralized Services, Fernando Pinto, praised the importance of this initiative, which he said fosters closer ties with people, institutions, and both formal and informal commerce.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat makes the difference between countries, what makes the difference between cities, is just one thing: the attitude of the people. If we all did our part, so many laws wouldn’t be necessary,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This official assured that the Praia Municipal Police will continue collaborating with other councils and departments of the local authority to implement the resolution, aiming to make the city more organized, pleasant, and with greater control over noise pollution and other urban aspects.<\/p>\n
