Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the People\u2019s Party (PP) acknowledged on Tuesday that the Government did \u201csomething\u201d to mitigate the crisis in Cabo Verde, but could take some tax measures, \u201creducing certain taxes, including VAT on essential goods\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe essential goods, which are often burdened with VAT [Value Added Tax], we think that the reduction of VAT would be a beneficial measure,\u201d said Am\u00e2ndio Barbosa Vicente, for whom VAT on fuels should be reduced, citing Portugal as an example in this regard.<\/p>\n

For the president of the People\u2019s Party, in an interview with Inforpress, the increase in the price of fuels is \u201csynonymous with more revenue entering the public coffers\u201d and, on the other hand, means \u201cmore difficulty for people\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a Government that is against what was necessary to be done, since the time of the health crisis,\u201d he said, pointing out that Cabo Verde has a \u201cbig Government,\u201d that is, an executive with \u201ctoo many Ministers and Secretaries of State.\u201d<\/p>\n
