Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) highlighted this Thursday that the country is experiencing \u201ca crucial moment\u201d in the consolidation of science, serving as a stage for the launch of good clinical practice guidelines translated into Portuguese.<\/p>\n

In statements to the press, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the training on Good Practice Guidelines in Clinical Trials (WHO) and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH) for the PALOP countries, Maria da Luz Lima stressed that the choice of Cape Verde is a source of \u201csatisfaction and pride\u201d.<\/p>\n

For her, the fact that Cape Verde is hosting the first training session of the SPALOC project marks the unprecedented dissemination, in Portuguese, of guidelines and guides for clinical trials and good practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a crucial moment because some foundations have already been laid,\u201d she said, referring to the existence of the National Research Agenda for Health, its own scientific journal, and the holding of congresses in the area.<\/p>\n

For the WHO representative in Cape Verde, Ann Lindstrand, the meeting gains even more significance as it follows World Health Day 2026, which this year calls for a clear message: \u201cTogether for Health alongside Science\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cClinical research is one of the central pillars of public health. It is through well-understood, ethical and high-quality clinical trials that we can respond to health priorities, improving clinical practices, strengthening the health system and expanding access to innovation in a safe way,\u201d said Lindstrand.<\/p>\n

The coordinator of the Lusophone Platform for Clinical and Biomedical Research, Carlos Almeida, explained that the manuals in question are the WHO’s good practice guidelines and the ICH’s good clinical practice guidelines.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis training will be carried out in all the PALOP countries. Cape Verde will host the first edition, later this year we will go to Guinea-Bissau and, in 2027, we will go to Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Angola, finishing in Mozambique,\u201d \u200b\u200bhe revealed.<\/p>\n

The training program, designed to have a significant impact on the scientific community of the PALOP countries, aims to strengthen capabilities and develop knowledge in the area of \u200b\u200bclinical practice and clinical trials.<\/p>\n
