Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Santo Ant\u00e3o will receive, on Tuesday, the launch of the International Year of Mountains, presided over by the President of the Republic, Jos\u00e9 Maria Neves, as part of his first visit to this island as Head of State.<\/p>\n

The ceremony will take place in the Natural Park of Cova, in the Planalto Leste, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, which decided to embrace this initiative by the United Nations (UN) to \u201craise awareness\u201d of the country to \u201cthe need to protect biodiversity, aiming to ensure the well-being of mountainous communities and the plains, through sustainable conservation and development\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Head of State will thus be calling everyone to the duty of mountains protection, in the framework of advocay in favor of their conversation, as advocated in the SDG and Agenda 2063,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

As part of this three-day visit to Santo Ant\u00e3o, which begins Monday in the municipality of Porto Novo, Jos\u00e9 Maria Neves will have an agenda focused on the environmental issue.<\/p>\n
