Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Sea and of Culture and Creative Industries, Abra\u00e3o Vicente, urged, this Thursday, 14, in Mindelo, that the difficulty that prevents S\u00e3o Vicente from receiving night flights at Ces\u00e1ria \u00c9vora International Airport be \u201cimmediately removed\u201d.<\/p>\n

The official made this appeal during the ceremony to commemorate the 143 years of the city of Mindelo, in Pa\u00e7os do Concelho, considering that it is \u201cinconceivable\u201d that Ces\u00e1ria \u00c9vora Airport still does not have night conditions to receive flights, \u201ceven more with the dynamic of hotel constructions on the island\u201d.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the minister launched a challenge to the company Aeroportos e Seguran\u00e7a A\u00e9rea (ASA) and the Civil Aviation Agency (AAC) to change the law and \u201cimmediately remove\u201d and in the \u201cnational interest\u201d the problem that prevents the city of Mindelo of receiving such operations at night.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere, it’s not a question of parochialism or Napoleonic struggles for the centrality of the islands. It is a matter of law, practicality and pragmatism,\u201d she underlined.<\/p>\n

Tourism as a city destination<\/p>\n

Referring to the development of S\u00e3o Vicente, which should also be facing the sea, the official assured that tourism continues to be one of the city\u2019s destinations, hence the need for professional training in the area to \u201crespond to the demands that have resulted and will result in of the numerous hotel investments that abound on the island\u201d.<\/p>\n
