Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Farmers’ associations in Casa de Meio and Ponte Sul\/Ch\u00e3 de Mato, Porto Novo, Santo Ant\u00e3o, areas of implementation of the Aquasun project, are anxious about the start of this agro-industrial project, which should start in May.<\/p>\n

These farmer associations say they are \u201clooking forward\u201d to the start of Aquasun, a project estimated at 23 million euros, in charge of the company Aquasun Energia e \u00c1gua.<\/p>\n

Miguel Santos, from the Casa de Meio Farmers’ Association, guarantees that, recently, a representative of this company was in Porto Novo and guaranteed that the Aquasum project will start to be implemented from next May.<\/p>\n

Augusto Fortes, from the Ponte Sul\/Ch\u00e3 de Mato Farmers Association, said that local farmers believe in this project and are therefore \u201clooking forward\u201d to its completion.<\/p>\n

The project foresees the installation of a large-scale solar photovoltaic plant with 6.8 MWp and a seawater desalination unit of 3,500 cubic meters, per day, for agriculture.<\/p>\n

The project will be developed on 78 hectares of agricultural land in the areas of Casa de Meio and Ponte Sul\/Ch\u00e3 de Mato and, in the opinion of the farmers, will allow the creation of industrial agriculture in the municipality of Porto Novo, in addition to solving the problem of market for agricultural surpluses.<\/p>\n

The same should generate 300 direct jobs.<\/p>\n
