Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Deputy Secretary of State of the Prime Minister, Louren\u00e7o Lopes, acknowledged on Tuesday that despite the \u201cups and downs\u201d moments, the Government has been working on promoting and guaranteeing freedom of the press in Cabo Verde.<\/p>\n

Louren\u00e7o Lopes made these statements on the sidelines of the national conference to celebrate the World Press Freedom Day, having as its central motto \u201cJournalism under Surveillance\u201d and as the theme \u201cMore Freedom and Better Democracy\u201d, promoted today by the Regulatory Authority for the Media (ARC), in partnership with the Cabo Verde National Commission for UNESCO and AJOC.<\/p>\n

According to this Deputy Secretary of State, the Executive has privileged dialogue and permanent articulation with professionals of the free press, the public and private sectors, having highlighted that Cabo Verde has over the years gained important positions in the different world rankings.<\/p>\n

The Cabo Verdean executive, as he recalled, has taken \u201cmeasures leading\u201d to greater independence of the media in Cabo Verde since 2016.<\/p>\n
