Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Santo Ant\u00e3o is one of the islands to be be covered with the construction of photovoltaic plants in the framework of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Improvement Project in Cabo Verde, which started in March.<\/p>\n

This information is contained in the ALER May Newsletter, a non-governmental organization that has as its mission the promotion of renewable energies in Lusophone countries, which states that, in addition to Santo Ant\u00e3o, this project will also cover the islands of S\u00e3o Nicolau, Maio and Fogo.<\/p>\n

The project, financed by the World Bank, amounting to 16.5 million dollars and with a five-year term, also provides for the construction of interconnection infrastructure for the plants to the public network, as well as the installation of energy storage systems, the same source reveals.<\/p>\n

This project, which will be closed on 31 December 2026, aims to increase renewable energy production and improve the performance of the public electricity service in Cabo Verde by leveraging private financing.<\/p>\n
