Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The symposium on sustainable food systems in Santo Ant\u00e3o, which kicks off this Monday in the city of Porto Novo, will discuss aspects such as nutrition, consumption and access to food, as well as the local food system.<\/p>\n

Governing and transforming food systems to ensure the human right to adequate food and sustainability of food systems, paradigms, good practices and opportunities are other topics included in the symposium program, organized by the Friends of Nature Association (AAN) and the Center for Rural Studies and International Agriculture (CERAI).<\/p>\n

The event, which, among other personalities, is attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, the representative of FAO in Cabo Verde, Ana Tousa, and the head of European Union cooperation in the country, Pedro Llopis, takes place under the Project Alliance for the Human Right to Adequate Food and Empowerment Initiatives for the Rural Youth and Women, co-financed by the European Union and the Government.<\/p>\n

The symposium, lasting two days, aims to \u201cunite and give voice\u201d to the various players of the food systems, such as national and municipal authorities, civil society and the private sector, with responsibilities in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, distribution and markets supply, nutrition, public health and gastronomy.<\/p>\n
