Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), Rui Semedo, defended, this Sunday, in Santo Ant\u00e3o, the need to have \u201ca national debate\u201d on privatization in Cape Verde, \u201cwith the development of the country in mind.\u201d \u201d.<\/p>\n

Rui Semedo, who was speaking at the closing of the PAICV regional assembly on the island, underlined that the suggested debate would be in the sense of identifying the sector where the State should have a fundamental role and that would be excluded from the list of privatizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be a discussion thinking about the country and its development\u201d, advocated the PAICV president, advancing that, \u201cin all countries, the State must define what is strategic and what cannot be privatized\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rui Semedo said that the MpD Government has on its privatization list \u201cmore than 20 companies\u201d, that is, \u201call companies in Cape Verde\u201d, because it understands that \u201cthe State must get out of absolutely everything\u201d, contrary to what thinks the PAICV.<\/p>\n

In his view, the ruling party’s narrative that the PAICV has an \u201cideological block\u201d in relation to the issue of privatization is intended to \u201cblock serious debate\u201d on this matter.<\/p>\n
