Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>A group of drummer walked on Wednesday morning to the main streets of the city of Porto Novo, in Santo Ant\u00e3o, in the traditional dawn that marks the official start of the feasts of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o in this municipality.<\/p>\n

The festivities program of the patron saint\u2019s day, which is celebrated on June 24, lasts almost a month and highlights, among other activities, a workshop to built S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o\u2019s ships, a workshop for drummer learning, the rescue of the \u201ccola Fjid\u201d ritual and the presentation of three literary works.<\/p>\n

A debate on the importance of these festivals, declared in 2017 national intangible cultural heritage, the agricultural fair, the meeting of migrants on vacation, the parade of the S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o\u2019s groups and the 2022 edition of the \u201czozer Son Jon party\u201d are other events that will mark the June 24th in Porto Novo.<\/p>\n

There is also an exhibition of painting, the traditional popular ball in the old Am\u00edlcar Cabral stadium and the resumption of the pilgrimage of the Christian faithful with the image of the patron saint from the Ribeira das Patas to the city of Porto Novo, which brings together thousands of Christian faithful.<\/p>\n
