Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The 2022 edition of the Cabo Verde Basketball League starts today at 7 pm, at the Vav\u00e1 Duarte Sports Pavilion, in Praia.<\/p>\n

This year the competition has the participation of six teams, each with three North American players and seven Cape Verdeans.<\/p>\n

The second match of the night, scheduled for 20:30, puts the Tchada Panthers and Plateau Warriors (champion) finalists of the 2021 edition face to face.<\/p>\n

In a promotional video released by the organization on the Internet, the president of CVBL, Ant\u00f3nio de Pina, informed that another novelty of this edition is the \u201cimportation\u201d of African players for each team.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur aim and vision is to become Africa’s premier basketball league in the coming months and that in the future it will be the African Premier Summer League, a professional summer league,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Born in Delaware, USA, Ant\u00f3nio de Pina represented Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and as a professional played for the emblems of El\u00e9ctrico FC from Portugal and BC Martorell from Spain, having also a stint on the Netflix show, The Circle.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that in its first edition, the Praia Basketball League took place from 03 to 23 July, in the Vav\u00e1 Duarte pavilion, with the participation of teams from CB Cidadela, Ponta d’\u00c1gua Gorilas, Achada Grande Volcanico, Palmarejo Sharks, Achada Panthers and Plateau Warriors, which are part of the \u201cOverseas Basketball Connection\u201d project.<\/p>\n
