Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Fundamental Foundation, based in Santo Ant\u00e3o, warned this Sunday, to \u201cthe increase in forest fires in recent years\u201d on this island, a situation that, in its view, worries local institutions and Santo Ant\u00e3o citizens in general.<\/p>\n

This foundation made this warning regarding the fire that broke out this Saturday on the Costa Lesta of the island of Santo Ant\u00e3o, which will have been, according to the civil protection services, caused by fires in the context of preparing land for the upcoming water period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe considerable increase in fires in recent years in Santo Ant\u00e3o concerns not only the Santo Ant\u00e3o citizens but also the leaders of the institutions of the Island\u201d, stresses this Foundation, referring that \u201cthe impacts generated by this type of disaster, in addition to directly affecting the environment, also bring negative consequences for the health of the population\u201d.<\/p>\n

For \u201cthese and other reasons\u201d must \u201call unite, to defend, preserve and promote the integrated and sustainable environmental development of Santo Ant\u00e3o\u201d, called this institution of social and environmental nature.<\/p>\n
