Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Association for Environmental Protection and Development (ADAD) defended the need for joining efforts and greater political will to help Cabo Verde halt the fight against desertification and drought.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Inforpress on World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, ADAD representative Aristides Reis stressed that the ephemeris has great relevance because it allows us to reaffirm its commitment to combating desertification and soil degradation and to mitigate the effects of drought.<\/p>\n

As he pointed out, droughts are among the greatest threats to sustainable development, especially in developing countries, but increasingly also in developed countries, noting that this year, the theme \u201d Rising up from drought together\u201d, emphasizes the need for early action to avoid disastrous consequences for humanity and planetary eco-systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is always good for us to reflect on this phenomenon and also to outline plans for the future. At the moment the biggest challenge is the problem of climate change and ADAD all the activities it has been carrying out always has on the agenda this issue of the environment, drought and desertification, all with a focus on climate balance\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
