Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Coopermondo project’s community facilitator, Adelsa Fernandes, proposed a work of greater harmony between the members of the cooperatives, for a new development model in Cape Verde, adapted to the current context.<\/p>\n

This official was speaking to Inforpress, on the sidelines of the international workshop \u201cDialogues between cooperatives from the south of the world \u2013 Building paths for cooperativism in Cape Verde\u201d, promoted by the Association for International Cooperation for Development (Coopermondo), within the scope of the International Day of Cooperativism, always marked on the first Saturday of July.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we need more harmony between the members so that we can have development in Cape Verde\u201d, pointed out the facilitator, who said that the biggest challenge is a concerted effort in primary sectors such as agriculture, livestock and fisheries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that, with cooperativism, farmers, fishermen and breeders can gain scale to be able to export their products to other locations, and at the moment, they work individually and cannot get a return\u201d, pointed out Adelsa Fernandes, who defended that it is necessary to have appropriate legislation for this sector.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he said that the meeting will also serve to exchange experiences with countries that already have legislation on cooperatives.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201ccooperatives build better worlds\u201d, the event was attended by OMCV, Cite Habitat, chamber of commerce, Pro Empresa, cooperatives from the south of the world in Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil and Mozambique.<\/p>\n
