Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Bishop of the Diocese of Mindelo , Dom Ildo Fortes, considers that the loss of civic, spiritual and even environmental values \u200b\u200bis one of the setbacks registered in the 47 years of independent Cape Verde .<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many gains and there are losses, and there are great values \u200b\u200bthat have been lost in our land\u201d, underlined Dom Ildo Fortes, speaking to Inforpress, adding that \u201cthere is still a long way to go\u201d, because in these 47 years of independence Cabo Green could have advanced \u201cmuch more\u201d.<\/p>\n

For this very reason, Dom Ildo Fortes defends that the country must now find time for debate and reflection and determine the next steps.<\/p>\n

Among the losses recorded, the bishop of the Diocese of Mindelo points to the \u201cattempt to remove\u201d from schools, hospitals and the Armed Forces the classes on religion and morals and the figure of the church, which created \u201cbig problems\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dom Ildo Fortes reiterates that \u201ca lot has been lost\u201d because, at the moment, Cape Verdean society does not respect the elderly, children and women and has \u201cconfused freedom with debauchery\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Bishop of the Diocese of Mindelo warns that \u201cit is essential today to stop and think\u201d, since, as he noted, there is a \u201chuge deficit\u201d in reflection in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reflection is not compatible with the level of dispersion that we live. If municipalities, associations, churches do not create spaces for us to reflect, debate and think about the destiny of our country, it does not work”, warned Dom Ildo Fortes, who, in this particular, recalled the “great contribution” that the Catholic Church made and continues to give throughout the construction process of Cape Verde<\/p>\n

Advances in road transport infrastructure<\/p>\n

Dom Ildo Fortes highlights the progress made by Cape Verde in terms of road transport infrastructure, which in the 70s caused him a \u201cgreat shock\u201d with the Azorean reality, where all this was on \u201canother level, very well organized\u201d .<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation in Cape Verde for 47 years was blatant, which demanded, in fact, independence.
