In Cape Verde, in the city of Praia, the opening of this event that marks the end of Ramadan, is scheduled for this Sunday, 10, from 10 am, according to Imam Neka Thian of the Tira-Chap\u00e9u Mosque.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this day, we gather to pray and, in addition, we make sacrifices of sheep in which we divide the meat into three parts: one to eat, another to give to the poorest and the rest that we keep for other occasions\u201d, explained to this weekly, the Cape Verde’s Islamic spiritual leader.<\/p>\n

Meaning of Tabaski<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Tabaski is celebrated from the tenth day of the month of \u201cDhu al-Hijah\u201d (last month of the lunar year in the Islamic calendar), by Muslims from all over the planet, in memory of the prophet Ibrahim, who 100 years ago, according to his followers, instead of sacrificing one of his two sons, \u201cGod sent him a ram to use in their place\u201d.<\/p>\n
