As the website Menosfios.com advances, the study now revealed, which concerns 2020, shows that the average price of 1 GB (gigabyte) of mobile data in Africa was more than 5 dollars (USD), while the price in the European Union (EU) was closer to 3.5 USD.<\/p>\n

Cape Verde, which ranks 12th, had, at the time of the study, a cost of 4.78 per 1 GB.<\/p>\n

Equatorial Guinea has the most expensive mobile data on the continent, where 1 GB costs almost 50 USD, and is, according to the same source, \u201cprobably the most expensive 1 GB of data\u201d you can buy anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n

The country has a relatively small population of just under 2 million people and generally high per capita income due to the country being rich in oil. The average salary in 2022 is around USD 700 per month, based on research.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, African countries with the lowest internet prices include Sudan \u2013 where a 1GB of broadband data costs USD 0.9 \u2013 followed by Egypt (USD 1.3), Morocco (USD 2), Rwanda (USD 2.1) and Cameroon (USD 2.2).<\/p>\n

In Algeria it costs 2.3 USD, 3.28 in Senegal, 3.50 in Angola and 4.8 in Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n

Although data is getting cheaper, the same source reveals that there are still many countries in Africa with \u201cincredibly\u201d high mobile data prices.<\/p>\n

Generally, according to the same source, some of the African countries have some of the most expensive mobile data in the world due to various factors such as, for example, the unavailability of telecommunication infrastructure and high taxation in the African telecom industry by governments.<\/p>\n

The monopoly of telecommunications companies has also contributed to charging more for data.<\/p>\n

In the case of Cape Verde, there are only two telecommunications companies, as is known.<\/p>\n
