Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament, Deputy L\u00facia Passos, promotes, this Sunday, July 31, from 9 am to 11 am, in the Banquet Hall of the National Assembly, an open conversation to mark African Women’s Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cTowards the Decade of African Women: Realizing the Human Capital of Women through accelerated social and economic development, addressing the scourge of violence, food insecurity and good nutrition on the African continent\u201d was the theme chosen this year by the African Union to celebrate and recognize the women who fought for the liberation and development of the continent.<\/p>\n

In a note sent to the press, the institution states that the year 2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the Pan-African Women\u2019s Organization (PAWO), the first collective women\u2019s organization in Africa, which \u201chas contributed to the struggle for the liberation of the continent from colonialism\u201d. , the elimination of apartheid, and the eradication of gender inequalities, discrimination and injustice against women\u201d.<\/p>\n

The deputy L\u00facia Passos (MpD), was elected and invested, on the 29th of June, as third vice-president of the Pan-African Parliament.<\/p>\n

It is the first time that, in the West African region, a Portuguese-speaking country occupies the place.<\/p>\n
