Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The national police will have video surveillance cameras mounted on the premises of the Ba\u00eda das Gatas Festival, in S\u00e3o Vicente, to monitor movements.<\/p>\n

The information was released to the press by the Regional Commander of the National Police (PN), Jo\u00e3o Santos, in S\u00e3o Vicente.<\/p>\n

According to him, the corporation will have surveillance cameras, for the first time, in Ba\u00eda das Gatas, in addition to around 150 staff to monitor the festival.<\/p>\n

The cameras will be monitored by four elements fixed in Ba\u00eda das Gatas and another also with four elements for video surveillance in the PN Command Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have a specific team in Ba\u00eda das Gatas to monitor the cameras in the Bay. We will also have a team here whose mission will be to monitor the cameras that are connected to Ba\u00eda das Gatas, those that monitor the exit, and even some of those in Ba\u00eda\u201d, he clarified.<\/p>\n

Great adhesion<\/p>\n

This official believes that there will be a huge number of people joining Ba\u00eda das Gatas.<\/p>\n

In total, between 100 and 150 PN elements will be assigned to the festival, but, as I said, \u201cthe number can fluctuate depending on needs\u201d. Also, the Traffic Police will be in \u201ccontinuous mobility\u201d, depending on these needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have transit teams all over the road, fixed and mobile, on bikes and in vehicles, duly marked to accompany them. In the same way, we will be equipped with our breathalyzers to measure the alcohol content in the blood, mainly of drivers, but pedestrians on public roads are subject to being caught with this measure\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to him, there will be a PN service station in Ba\u00eda das Gatas to receive complaints, and the entire Criminal Investigation Brigade will be at the festival, which will also have fixed vehicles patrolling, people on foot, by the beach, or in plain clothes, disguised in the midst of the crowd to act in case of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will work in connection with the supervision of the Municipality of S\u00e3o Vicente, with the municipal firefighters, with the Red Cross, and with the Military Police, sharing missions where necessary and possible\u201d, he guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Operational plan<\/p>\n

The operational plan, he said, encompasses the city of Mindelo and Ba\u00eda das Gatas, so Mindelo \u201cwill not be unguarded\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe maritime and air borders will be covered with their personnel and the tax guard will be in their territory working\u201d, he guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Santos recommends that pedestrians always walk along the side of the road, and always facing vehicles, to ensure safety.<\/p>\n

He asked drivers to make use of the road \u201cin the best way\u201d, to ensure that passengers are traveling with the \u201cdesired safety\u201d, and \u201cnever exceed the limit of passengers per vehicle\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also appealed to them to avoid \u201cexcessive speed and dangerous maneuvers, such as overtaking, reversing or reversing that could disturb the movement of vehicles\u201d.<\/p>\n

The festival starts this Friday, 12, back to its usual venue, after an absence of two years due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n
