If there is a chance to help, for many of us, it will be with small amounts\u201d, he asks.<\/p>\n

Special mechanisms for humanitarian situations<\/p>\n

22 families are already benefiting from the actions of the Civic Action Group for Food and Nutrition Security<\/p>\n

Even with the high fees charged by banks for international transfers, since August the Civic Action Group for Food and Nutrition Security (GACSA) has been organizing and is already on the ground. It is already supporting 22 duly identified families, who are receiving their monthly basic baskets.<\/p>\n

Especially, as A\u0302ngela Coutinho reveals, when food insecurity in Cape Verde increased from 3% in 2019 to 30% now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have already managed to sponsor 5 families in Porto Novo, 6 in S. Domingos, 6 in Praia and 5 in S. Vicente. In total, 22 families with full and complete food, according to FAO standards. Transparency<\/p>\n

In the case of this project, Cape Verdeans or their descendants, from any island or municipality, are asked to support others in the municipalities identified by the authorities as being \u201cmost affected\u201d at this time by food insecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are very engaged and a lot of other people are interested and give us a lot of moral encouragement. We are aware that there are people who are carefully observing our actions and control mechanisms, in order to make a final decision. \u201cOur project has been very well received by the various institutions that are already working on the ground at this level, as well as by the City Councils. So, for example, in Santo Anta\u0303o we are collaborating directly with Casa da Crianc\u0327a, in Porto Novo, and with religious institutions, supporting families already identified, but which it had not yet been possible to include in this direct food support network\u201d.<\/p>\n

The same happens in Sa\u0303o Vicente, where they were \u201cvery well\u201d welcomed by several NGOs. \u201cWe started a very rich direct collaboration with OMCV\/Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome-Fundac\u0327a\u0303o Donana, which has been very dynamic at this level\u201d, he informs.<\/p>\n
