Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Farmers in the Municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Anta\u0303o, expect, from January 2023, to achieve \u201ca good harvest\u201d of sugarcane due to the abundant rains recorded in this year of 2022.<\/p>\n

The local associations of farmers consider that, when it rains in abundance, as it happened this year, the sugar cane harvest exceeds expectations, therefore foreseeing \u201ca good harvest\u201d from January, when the period of industrialization of cane brandy begins in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, when it rains as it did this year, we always have a good harvest of sugar cane. The plantations look good\u201d, confirmed the president of the Association of Farmers of Alto Mira, Ederlino Fortes.<\/p>\n

The drought that hit this municipality in recent years, conditioned the sugar cane harvest and, consequently, the production of cane brandy, according to farmers.<\/p>\n
