Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Fishermen’s Association of Salamansa, in Sa\u0303o Vicente, in partnership with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment presents this Friday, 18th, at Bai\u0301a das Gatas drag place, the results of the project for the Implementation of an Electric Propulsion System in Fishing handmade.<\/p>\n

Within the scope of the project, several activities were carried out and concluded, namely the acquisition of a Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 outboard electric motor, two batteries and their respective accessories, reconfiguration of two craft vessels, acquisition and installation of solar panels to recharge the batteries.<\/p>\n

A socio-economic analysis of the use of the engine in fishing missions is still ongoing, both in the coastal areas of Sa\u0303o Vicente and in the Marine Reserve of Santa Luzia.<\/p>\n

To mark the final phase of the project, the Fishermen’s Association of Salamansa and its partner MAA-SV will hold a final project event where the electric motor will be installed in a craft vessel and its respective batteries, followed by a brief test at sea. . The event takes place on Friday, the 18th, at the Bai\u0301a das Gatas drag place, on the island of Sa\u0303o Vicente.<\/p>\n

The project aims to create conditions that favor the sustainability of artisanal fishing in the Salamansa community, in Sa\u0303o Vicente.<\/p>\n

Specifically, it is intended to promote the implementation of electric mobility in artisanal fishing, as well as to reinforce the beneficiaries’ capacities in the analysis and evaluation of the sustainability of electric mobility in artisanal fishing.<\/p>\n

3.8 million escudos<\/p>\n

The initiative \u201cImplementation of an Electric Propulsion System in Artisanal Fishing\u201d is implemented by the Fishermen’s Association of Salamansa, in close partnership and collaboration with the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Sa\u0303o Vicente (MAA-SV).<\/p>\n

It is budgeted at approximately 3.8 million ECV and is co-funded by the Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme, the GEF SGP.<\/p>\n
