Africa-Press – Comores. <\/strong><\/span>L\u2019Organisation des Nations unies pour l\u2019alimentation et l\u2019agriculture (FAO) a lance\u0301, mercredi, un appel urgent pour venir en aide aux pays de l\u2019Afrique australe, victimes de catastrophes naturelles a\u0300 re\u0301pe\u0301tition depuis le de\u0301but de l\u2019anne\u0301e.<\/p>\n

La FAO s\u2019exprimait par voie de communique\u0301, rendu public mercredi et dont une copie est parvenue a\u0300 Anadolu.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Organisation onusienne cite en particulier le cyclone tropical Freddy qui a battu tous les records en termes de longe\u0301vite\u0301 et la tempe\u0302te tropicale Cheneso, ayant affecte\u0301 le Malawi, Madagascar et le Mozambique. Aussi, la Zambie a-t-elle e\u0301te\u0301 frappe\u0301e par \u00ab des tempe\u0302tes destructrices et des pluies torrentielles qui ont entrai\u0302ne\u0301 de graves inondations \u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Au total, pre\u0300s de 10 millions de personnes ont e\u0301te\u0301 touche\u0301es dans la re\u0301gion \u00bb, a constate\u0301 la FAO, affirmant que \u00ab la se\u0301curite\u0301 alimentaire et les moyens de subsistance ruraux de certaines des personnes les plus vulne\u0301rables de la re\u0301gion ont e\u0301te\u0301 gravement compromis \u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Une re\u0301ponse d’urgence renforce\u0301e et soutenue est ne\u0301cessaire pour permettre aux gens de se relever et de reprendre la production agricole\u00a0\u00bb, a alerte\u0301, en conse\u0301quence, Patrice Talla, Coordonnateur sous-re\u0301gional de la FAO pour l’Afrique australe, rappelant que plus de 70% de la population rurale dans ces pays de\u0301pend de l\u2019agriculture.<\/p>\n

La FAO demande dans son communique\u0301 la mobilisation de \u00ab 247 millions de dollars pour soutenir 2,5 millions de personnes parmi les plus vulne\u0301rables au Malawi, a\u0300 Madagascar, au Mozambique et en Zambie \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Pour rappel, le cyclone Freddy qui s\u2019est forme\u0301 le 5 fe\u0301vrier et s’est poursuivi jusqu\u2019au 15 mars, a fait plus de 1200 morts et plus de 550 disparus dans plusieurs pays de l\u2019Afrique australe.<\/p>\n

Pour sa part, le cyclone Cheneso qui a dure\u0301 du 17 janvier jusqu\u2019au 1er fe\u0301vrier a provoque\u0301 le de\u0301ce\u0300s d\u2019au moins 33 personnes.<\/p>\n

Ces deux tempe\u0302tes sont conside\u0301re\u0301es parmi les conse\u0301quences des changements climatiques qui touchent plusieurs re\u0301gions du Globe, les pays pauvres et en de\u0301veloppent e\u0301tant les plus vulne\u0301rables.<\/p>\n
