Aujourd\u2019hui le visiteur peut s\u2019\u00e9merveiller des voies triomphales qui traversent les villes, les rues de plus en plus bitum\u00e9es, l\u2019\u00e9clairage public plus \u00e9tincelant qu\u2019il ne l\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9. On peut l\u2019affirmer Katiola, Tafir\u00e9, Ferk\u00e9, Korhogo et m\u00eame Boundiali sont devenus de jolies villes qui n\u2019ont plus rien \u00e0 envier \u00e0 Abidjan et Yamoussoukro. C\u2019est une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 palpable avec des infrastructures routi\u00e8res mais surtout des \u00e9difices publics, des villas de particuliers qui sortent de terre chaque jour.<\/p>\n<p>Mais derri\u00e8re cette embellie physique, l\u2019embellie sociale a du mal \u00e0 suivre la cadence. Le ch\u00f4mage s\u00e9vit et Abidjan reste l\u2019Eldorado pour nombre de jeunes. Abidjan a connu ses probl\u00e8mes post-guerre comme celui des gangs \u00e0 la machette connus sous le nom de microbes. Le Nord ivoirien y a \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi confront\u00e9 mais \u00e0 un degr\u00e9 moindre. Au nord, ce sont plut\u00f4t des hordes d\u2019enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 5 \u00e0 10 ans qui sont visibles. Ils pullulent dans les gares routi\u00e8res, assaillent les passagers leur chantant des b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions soit pour la suite du voyage soit pour souhaiter la bienvenue. Cela, bien s\u00fbr dans l\u2019espoir de capter quelques pi\u00e9cettes. Ces enfants sont reconnaissables \u00e0 leurs haillons qu\u2019ils portent. Ils sont non-violents mais tous en conflit avec le bain du corps et l\u2019hygi\u00e8ne. On les retrouve \u00e0 la gare. Ils sont \u00e9galement devant les restaurants et autres lieux de consommation, bo\u00eetes en main ou en bandouli\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019aff\u00fbt des restes de clients moins affam\u00e9s ou qui sont pris de compassion \u00e0 leur \u00e9gard.<\/p>\n<p>Donnez tout votre plat, videz votre porte-monnaie et donnez leur tous vos jetons. Ils ne s\u2019en iront pas, attendant le dernier client et la derni\u00e8re heure.<\/p>\n<p>Qui sont-ils ? A cette question, c\u2019est une jeune vendeuse de jus de fruits qui nous r\u00e9pond : \u00ab Ce sont des enfants peulhs et la mendicit\u00e9 fait partie de leur tradition. Ils ne sont pas orphelins, certains ont des parents pas vraiment pauvres mais c\u2019est comme cela chez eux \u00bb. Certains g\u00e9rants de kiosque qui se g\u00eanent de leur pr\u00e9sence car indisposant les clients les refoulent souvent s\u2019ils ne les prennent en chasse.<\/p>\n<p>Eux, ils ne se g\u00eanent pas, ils ne se lassent pas. Pour peu qu\u2019il y ait encore quelques \u00e2mes g\u00e9n\u00e9reuses, ils existeront toujours, ils vivront de l\u2019aum\u00f4ne et des restes de nourriture.
